This exhibit is an opportunity for Torontonians to learn about all the wondering things from Taiwan; from bicycles, performance auto parts, computer components to orchids and tea, this exhibit is going to be an eye-opener to visitors!
According to Global Affairs Canada, Taiwan is Canada’s six-largest trading partner in Asia with two-way investment between both countries totaling $813 million in 2020. Taiwan is one of the world’s leading producers of semiconductors, chips that power computers, EVs and mobile devices, and many other high-tech products. Taiwan plays by the international trade rules and is a reliable and predictable business partner to Canadian companies. The Taiwan Exhibit may have displayed a small part of Made in Taiwan products, but it serves as a great opportunity for Canadians to discover the Taiwanese origin of many famous consumer products and to learn about the innovative side of the Taiwanese culture.
As part of the vibrant Asian community in Toronto, TCAT has been hosting the annual Toronto TaiwanFest at Harbourfront Centre each summer and the GTA LunarFest each winter. Although Taiwan has a shared heritage with mainland China, however, it had branched out with its own distinct culture of innovation and creativity. Today, we are proud of our Taiwanese heritage and excited to share the culture with Torontonians.
